The Ts’msyen Nation
Land Acknowledgement
The Harbour Theatre Society is proud to acknowledge that we gather, celebrate & play on the traditional Unceded territory of the Ts’msyen Nation. This beautiful land we call home was, and always will be, their rightful homeland.
It's essential to acknowledge their continued presence, perseverance, and resilience as a reminder that we share this land and its resources. We believe that by acknowledging the Indigenous peoples' history and ongoing contribution to this land, we can build a relationship of trust, Łoomsk (respect), and genuine partnership.
As a theatre society, we understand the power of storytelling, and we believe in using our platform to raise awareness and promote understanding of the historical, cultural, and contemporary issues faced by all Indigenous peoples in our community, especially the Ts’msyen Nations. It's our hope that by acknowledging the Ts’msyen Nation and their traditional land, we can start a conversation and encourage others to follow suit in creating a relationship of trust & coexistence.
We understand wholeheartedly that this acknowledgment is only the beginning of a process of decolonization and reconciliation. And, with that, we want to continue learning, growing, and taking practical actions towards building a more inclusive and equitable society. We invite you to join us in this journey towards greater understanding and respect for our indigenous brothers and sisters.
Thank you for listening, and thank you to the Ts’msyen Nation for sharing their land with us.
T’oyaxsut Nüün. (Thank you.)
